The Detroit Lions are signing veteran cornerback Arthur Maulet to their practice squad after multiple injuries in their secondary, according to Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network, via X.

Today, the Lions placed cornerback Khalil Dorsey on injured reserve, adding to the loss of Terrion Arnold to a shoulder injury and D.J. Reed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. As reported by Michigan Football Network, the Lions are looking to their backups, practice squad, cap space for free agent signings and possible trades to reinforce the loss of key players in their secondary.
Maulet, 32, has played in 84 games over eight seasons. He has 225 tackles and four interceptions in his career. Maulet played most recently for the Baltimore Ravens, and has played for the New Orleans Saints, Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Maulet is most experienced at nickel cornerback. The Lions have not yet announced how they will deploy him or how the addition will allow the team to move other players around to fill both outside cornerback spots. The Lions’ secondary will be tested this Sunday when the team visits Kansas City to play the Chiefs.
