Detroit Lions All-Pro wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown revealed to reporters Thursday that he had surgery on one of his knees over the offseason.

According to The Detroit News, St. Brown said, “I had a surgery on my knee after the season, just to clean some stuff up. I’ve been rehabbing that, but I should be good to go for training camp.”

St. Brown played all 17 regular season games last season, totaling 115 receptions, 1.263 yards and 12 touchdowns. In the Lions’ playoff loss to Washington, he caught eight receptions for 137 yards. St. Brown has led the Lions in receiving all four of his seasons, playing in at least 16 games every year.

With a new offensive coordinator and the retirement of center Frank Ragnow, the Lions’ offense could get off to an inconsistent start, especially if St. Brown is not at his full performance level to start the season.

Thankfully, Jameson Williams looks to have taken his skills to a higher level this season, based on the acrobatic and deep catches he’s made in organized team activities, or OTAs. The Lions also drafted Isaac TeSlaa in the third round of the NFL Draft after a trade up. Perhaps the offense will look to run more, with Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, at least in the first few games of the season.

Stay tuned. We should see for ourselves how St. Brown looks on his cleaned up knee when the Lions begin training camp on July 27. It will be telling on his capacity to play if St. Brown suits up when the Lions play the Chargers in the NFL Hall of Fame game, July 31.
