Football fans were treated to a rivalry game that featured a shocking EIGHT overtimes last night. Georgia beat their in-state rival Georgia Tech 44-42 after a dramatic walkoff two-point conversion.

Georgia Tech nearly shocked everyone by beating the Bulldogs, which is what the Wolverines will try to do today against that team down south… also know as Ohio State.

Although many rivalry games look lopsided on paper, it’s always unpredictable because you know you can throw all that out the window in these games where there is bad blood. Yes, it’s been an abysmal season for Michigan, but this is their Super Bowl, and they will give the Buckeyes their best shot, whether it’s enough or not.

Here are four ways Michigan can defeat Ohio State today:

Play with nothing to lose:

The Wolverines may be the reigning National Champions, but it didn’t take long this season to figure out that Michigan wouldn’t be defending that title. They have nothing to lose (but it’s also like they have everything to lose, because you know, it’s ‘The Game’). All of the pressure when it comes to winning a Big Ten championship and contending for a National Title is on OSU. A loss to Michigan changes everything. The Wolverines have to play aggressive and have to play with confidence if they are going to beat the Buckeyes for the fourth time in a row.

Win the battle in the trenches:

Rivalry games are won by the tough guys upfront. We see it time and time again. That is exactly how Michigan has dominated this rivalry. It started with a defensive line in 2021 that featured Aidan Hutchinson, as well as one of the best offensive lines in football, and it continued in 2022 and 2023 with Michigan dominating in the trenches on both sides of the ball. To win this game, the defensive and offensive lines have to play the best 60 minutes of football of their lives. If they can win in the trenches, they can pull off the upset.

Establish the run game, dominate time of possession:

The duo of Donovan Edwards and Kalel Mullings will have no choice but to carry this offense on their backs, especially Edwards, who has owned the Buckeyes the past few years. Donovan may not show up much in the regular season, but in big games, he puts on his superhero cape and gets to work. The Wolverines need him to have a big game. Someone who has shown up all year is Mullings. The linebacker turned running back packs a huge punch, and is one of the most physical downhill runners in football. The Wolverines have worn down the Buckeyes’ defense the past few years by running the ball down their throat. If they can do it again, they can keep themselves in the game.

They cannot have turnovers. They need to dominate time of possession. It’s vital that they keep Ohio State’s high-powered offense off the field as much as possible.
