As Thanksgiving week approaches, we all look forward to that fantasy football match-up with a close family member. Because the Holidays are about beating your loved ones in fantasy football, after all. Luckily, we have you covered for all of your fantasy football related questions. Well, for the Lions vs Bears match-up at least.

First up, lets go with who I think you should sit, unless forced to play them:

Caleb Williams, QB: Now, I know Caleb has been playing well. However, the Detroit Lions currently rank 7th vs Quarterbacks, allowing only 14.9 points per game. I also believe Aaron Glenn will do a good job of scheming against the Bears new Offensive Coordinator. On top of that, Caleb has 5 games with less than 10 fantasy points. He also has 2 games with less than 20 fantasy points. Even with the Lions being without a starting corner, I think they will ultimately curtail Caleb’s efforts. I could potentially see Caleb having a solid but not great game, so this is more of a “sit if you have a better option” situation.

Cole Kmet, TE: The Detroit Lions defense has been stingy all season, particularly against Tight Ends. They currently rank 1st vs Tight Ends, allowing a mere 5.3 points per game. On top of that, Kmet has been up and down all season, currently ranking 12th at his position. Don’t let that number fool you. He has 4 games with under 5 points, 8 games with less than 11, and he has not gotten targeted consistently. That number is skewed from 2 big games, where he had over 25 points. I don’t see a game like that happening against this Lions defense.

D’Andre Swift, RB: Making his return to Detroit for Thanksgiving, I don’t think Swift will have a very big game. The Lions defense ranks 2nd overall vs Running Backs. Allowing only 14.7 points per game. Also, the Lions currently rank 5th in rushing yards allowed per game, letting up only 94.9 yards per game. The Bears usage of Swift has also been up and down since the promotion of Thomas Brown to Offensive Coordinator. Since Brown took over, Swift has played just 56% of snaps. That does not bode well for Swift having a “revenge” game. I would only play him if I had no other options at this point.

Jared Goff, QB: Hear me out, Goff is going to have a rough game Thursday. I believe Decker being out is going to be huge. Plus, the Lions have really been feeding the run game. I do think Goff will have a solid game, but I don’t see him throwing all over the yard. I think Goff is a start in certain super-flex leagues, if you don’t have a better option. However, I would not be starting him this week in a one quarterback league. Not against a feisty Bears defense that currently ranks 13th vs the pass, and 13th in sacks. Goff will likely have a hard time tomorrow.

Now that the pessimism is out of the way, lets talk about who you should start tomorrow.

Jahmyr Gibbs/David Montgomery, RB: This is an obvious one, so I’ll keep it short. It’s Gibbs and Monty, the Lions Left Tackle is out, and the Bears defense ranks 20th vs the run, allowing 129.7 yards per game. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the Bears rank 15th vs Running Backs, allowing 20.0 points per game. With Decker out, I expect Ben Johnson to pound the rock, and both backs to take full advantage.

DJ Moore, WR: The Lions play a ton of man coverage, and with Carlton Davis out, I expect the Bears to get Moore the ball. He is currently the 17th ranked Wide Receiver, and the Lions allow a whopping 30.4 points per game to the Wide Receiver position, ranking them 24th in the League. I expect Moore to be the main issue for the Lions defense. Seeing as the Lions run defense has been stifling, and the Lions will likely have the lead, I expect the Bears to pass quite often.

Rome Odunze, WR: I would start Odunze for similar reasons to Moore, however most people will be questioning this one. Heres why you should; Odunze has consistently gotten better every week. His targets have gone up consistently as well. Over the past 4 games, he has amassed 39 targets, 22 catches, and 272 yards. He totaled 50.5 points, averaging 10.1 points per game. I know, that might not sound that great. However, over the last 2 games, he has gotten 20 targets. It seems to me Caleb prefers Odunze. Moore only got 14 targets over the same span. If you’re in desperate need of a flex/low end Wide Receiver option, I think Odunze could be your guy.

There are obvious players to start like Amon-Ra St Brown, but I wont waste your time telling you to start the 2nd ranked Wide Receiver in fantasy football. Feel free to comment any of your other Lions vs Bears related fantasy questions.

I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving, and I hope you destroy your snot-nosed nephew.
