The Tigers have secured their second consecutive series victory after taking the first two games against the Chicago White Sox at Comerica Park.

Detroit’s bats are firing on all cylinders, as they have combined to score 14 runs in the last two days. The Tigers have done an incredible job peppering opposing starting pitchers, getting runs on the board in the first inning, and running up their pitch count since the start of the Seattle series.

Detroit’s pitching staff has also been solid and is showing a ton of potential. Despite getting swept against the Dodgers in the first series of the season, the Tigers have already climbed to .500 and are tied for first place in the American League Central.

Detroit will look for the sweep with Jackson Jobe on the mound in his first career start at home. The match-up for the Tigers’ lineup is not as good on paper as recent games as Chicago rolls out southpaw Martin Perez in the series wrap-up.

Tigers hitters vs. Martin Perez:

Nine of the 13 hitters on the Detroit Tigers’ roster have faced the White Sox starter.

Andy Ibáñez: nine at-bats, .333 batting average, one home run, two RBIs, 1.000 OPS.

Spencer Torkelson: 14 at-bats, .286 batting average, two RBIs, .690 OPS.

Jake Rogers: eight at-bats, .250 batting average, one home run, one RBI, 1.025 OPS.

Javier Bàez: 15 at-bats, .200 batting average, one RBI, .467 OPS.

Colt Keith: five at-bats, .200 batting average, .400 OPS.

Manuel Margot: 22 at-bats, .182 batting average, one RBI, .462 OPS.

Riley Greene: six at-bats, .167 batting average, .453 OPS.

Kerry Carpenter, Dillon Dingler, Zach McKinstry, and Trey Sweeney have not faced Perez.

Player to Watch: Andy Ibáñez

As you saw, Andy Ibáñez has great numbers against Perez and has faced the lefty nine times. He hasn’t been in the lineup too much this season, but played yesterday despite a RHP getting the start on the mound. Ibáñez was quietly one of the most productive players offensively for Detroit last season, especially against lefties.

White Sox hitters vs. Jackson Jobe:

Chicago has a small sample size against Jobe as only five (Amaya, Benintendi, Sosa, Vargas, and Vaughn) of Chicago’s 13 rostered hitters have faced the Tigers top prospect.

NONE of them got a hit off of Jobe in a combined seven at-bats.
