The Detroit Lions are signing former 1st round pick Jamal Adams to the practice squad, with the intent to bring him up to the active roster.
Jamal spent the bulk of his career with the Jets and Seahawks. He was drafted 6th overall out of LSU by the Jets, where he spent the first three years of his career. He was then traded to Seattle, where he spent the next 4 years. After a few injuries, it seemed Adams’ play had taken a huge step back. He was ultimately cut by the Seahawks. He was recently signed by the Titans, who then released him after 3 games.
If I had to guess, my bet would be that Adams will primarily play Linebacker for Detroit. Seeing as they have had a ton of injuries, and Adams was always more of an “in the box” safety. He would likely fit well at that spot, and give the Lions defense some much needed help with all their injuries. He will probably fill in for Rodrigo, who played Will, and some nickel backer. I see Adams fitting there quite nicely.
Jamal Adams has 498 total tackles, 364 solo, 21.5 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, 4 interceptions, and 36 passes defended over his career. Even his stats look more like a Linebacker than a Safety. I personally really like the addition on the field, we will see if his off the field issues rear their ugly head in Detroit.
